Convention Support and Prize Policy for Talon Games
One of our main goals here at Talon Games is to support the adventure game hobby. Many of us have been involved with gaming for several years and we love to see new people experiencing the excitement that miniature war gaming and its related categories can generate.
One thing that attracts new players to our hobby is the many conventions held throughout the country during any given year and special events and contests run by clubs and retail outlets. Talon Games wants to support these many endeavors as best we can and to help us do that, we have developed a set of guidelines we use to streamline the process.
What will we sponsor?
Talon Games will provide gift certificates for any event which features
or spotlights one of our product lines. If you are running an Armored Might
or Rogue Legion game, we will sponsor it. If you are running a game of
BattleTech on our BattleHex Terrain System, we will sponsor it. If you
are holding a painting contest that features our miniatures solely, we
will sponsor it. So as you might have noticed, the key ingredient is our
product.
What qualifies as an event?
To qualify as a sponsored event, besides being focused on our product, requires a public venue for players to show up and participate in so events held in your garage or basements do not qualify. It also needs to be unique in composition and scheduling so events held once a week at your local store do not qualify as well.
What do I do first?
You need to plan the event and submit a request for sponsorship. This request should include
your name, address, phone number and email address as well as a brief description of the event, anticipated number of players and how you will be awarding any prizes.
It will also need to include the venue the event will be held at and any contact information for them if it is at a smaller regional convention or local store.
Ideally you can submit this request to support@talon-games.com or mail it to:
Talon Games
ATTN: Event Support
PO Box 849
El Dorado KS 67042
Please no phone calls.
Then what happens?
Once we review your request, we will notify you if the support you have requested is approved or denied. If approved we will send out a prize support package to you before your event and you will be responsible for handing out the prizes at your event(s). We might also try and attend the event as well if our schedule permits. We will also list your event on our convention support area on our forums.
After the event is over, any pictures would be appreciated as would an
after-action report telling us about the event and how it went. If your
event appears at a convention we would like you to send us a convention
guide so we can read about your event if possible.
Redeeming Prize Certificates
So your players are standing around and wondering what to do with the certificates
they are holding. How do they get their swag? Prize certificates have to
be redeemed directly with Talon Games. If we are attending the convention
they can come to our booth and pick up any product directly. If not, then
they will have to mail them in.
They can submit their order through our online store at www.talon-games.com
and select check/money order as their payment method. After printing out
their finished order, they will need to mail in their order and certificates
along with any payment required (prize certificates cannot be used for
shipping and handling charges).
If your event is held at a retail location, the store may choose to honor
the prize certificates but they need to first contact us to set up arrangements
to replace any stock they hand out.
I'm running a convention and need prize support but can't find anyone to run an event with your products
We realize how hard it is to find enough judges for the many events found at a convention. We might have some demo people in your area that we can send in to help so please contact us at support@talon-games.com.
From time to time we will also trade out advertising in your convention
guide for prize support. We do require that a copy of your guide from the
previous year be submitted first for us to review, so if this is your first
year this program will not be available to you. We will provide an ad designed
around your specifications and require a copy of the convention guide it
appears in for our records as well.
Mass mailings and spam
One thing we do not respond to is mass mailings and spam sent out by a
convention or event organizer hoping to get whatever swag they can. We
make a commitment to you and will do our best to support your event. All
we ask in return is the courtesy of treating our company and its products
with respect rather than an attempt to get a pile of "free stuff".
